PROJECT 1

New Line Up and Livery for Project 1 – AO

Project 1 – AO will start the 6 Hours of Monza with a new line-up and a new livery. Team principal Axel Funke’s team is aiming for nothing less than a podium finish on the fast circuit in the northern Italian city. Matteo Cairoli will have 18-year-old Portuguese Guilherme de Oliveira and 47-year-old Efrin Castro at his side on his home circuit. Castro is having a particularly successful season with his Porsche Carrera, as evidenced by six podium finishes in six races. Of the total of 49 races in which the American took part, he won no less than 24! For de Oliveira, it is the second appearance in the colours of Project 1 – AO. At the second WEC race of the season in Portimao he made a very good impression on Axel Funke’s team. His new appearance is therefore looked forward to with great confidence. Castro and Oliveira replace PJ Hyett and Gunnar Jeannette, who have commitments in the United States due to the IMSA races.

The Porsche RSR 19 will have a completely new look at Monza.

The green Rexy from Le Mans will change into an eye-catching red BTR Transport Logistics look.

Friday (7 July), the first free practice is scheduled at 11.30 am and the second free practice at 4 pm.The 6-hour race will be held on Sunday (9 July) from 12.30 pm to 6.30 pm.

DTM at the Norisring

During the DTM weekend at the Norisring, Project 1 will once again be competing in two race series. In the DTM, all eyes will be on Marco Wittmann, who will be fighting for a top finish in his green Schaeffler BMW M4 GT3. The 33-year-old’s victory at the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps last weekend underlines that he is in absolute top form. Team manager Marcel Jürgens-Wichmann is also confident that his team will once again fight for the podium in the DTM.

In addition to the DTM, Project 1 will also be competing with the BMW M2 Cup at the Norisring; the junior class for young talents aged 16 to 21 years old. Whether Germany’s Denny Berndt will manage to also claim success in the second weekend is still up for question, as the competition, consisting of 15 other young talents, is tough and the cars are identical. So it all comes down to personal ability, race overview and the flow of the race.

The first race of the BMW M2 Cup at the Norisring will be held on Saturday at 11.15 am, the second race on Sunday at 10.30 am.

Both races can be followed live on YouTube.
