Marco Wittmann belegte im BMW M4 GT3 von Project 1 die Plätze 9 und 13 und wurde als Lokalmatador von seinen heimischen Fans auf der Tribüne gefeiert. Jeweils vor den beiden Rennen nahm sich der zweimalige DTM-Champion die Zeit, seinen Anhängern auf der Tribüne einen Besuch abzustatten und sich für ihre Unterstützung zu bedanken. „Aus sportlicher Sicht war das ein schwieriges Wochenende. Wir haben einfach nicht die Pace gefunden, um das Tempo der Spitze mitgehen zu können. Man merkt, dass wir uns als neues Team immer noch finden müssen und das braucht Zeit. Absolutes Highlight war aber die unglaubliche Stimmung bei meinem Heimspiel und 10-jährigen DTM-Jubiläum hier am Norisring. Die vielen Autogrammstunden, die Begegnungen mit den Fans, die Grüne Wand von Schaeffler auf der Tribüne – das alles hat mir Gänsehautmomente beschert. Diese positiven Gefühle machen das Wochenende für mich unvergesslich“, so Marco Wittmann.

Marco Wittmann finished 9th and 13th in the BMW M4 GT3 from Project 1 and, as the local hero, was celebrated by his home fans in the stands. Before each of the two races, the two-time DTM champion took the time to pay a visit to his supporters in the grandstand and thank them for their support. “From a sporting point of view, this was a difficult weekend. We simply didn’t find the pace to keep up with the leaders. You can tell that we still need to find ourselves as a new team and that takes time. But the absolute highlight was the incredible atmosphere at my home race and 10th DTM anniversary here at the Norisring. The many autograph sessions, the encounters with the fans, the green wall from Schaeffler in the grandstand – it all gave me goosebumps. These positive feelings make the weekend unforgettable for me,” said Marco Wittmann.
